Our Story

I was a carpenter for twenty two years, focusing primarily on residential remodel, renovation, and addition. Just like many other carpenters, woodworking was a side hobby or mode of relaxation. It was always nice to do something other than work or the occasional “honey-do” list item.

On finding the woodturner’s lathe, I found my passion. Starting with the basics and working my way up, I found it fascinating how hours could simply melt away as I turned bowls, cups, candlesticks, and the like.

My passion for pen turning came about at a Veteran’s Day event at my local woodworking supply store (Shout out to Rockler Woodworking!). The event was called “Turn a pen for a veteran”. My wife, Becky, (A veteran of the Coast Guard), was in attendance as well. I turned my pen for Becky, Becky turned her pen for her father, a veteran of the Navy. The rest, as they say, was history.

My passion for turning pens was massive. Starting with wood blanks, and working my way to resin blanks and hybrid blanks (wood with resin) as well. This led to pouring my own resin blanks in order to better serve the design ideas in my mind.

As a building trades and woodshop teacher, I am constantly impressed by my student’s creativity, and love watching them turn into wonderful woodworkers. They challenge me and push me to be a better woodworker. As such, we decided to offer charcuterie boards, beer flight servers, wine caddies, and more, here.

This website and store would never exist without Becky’s determination and help. I am always so incredibly grateful that she is infinitely smarter and more resourceful than I. She got this off the ground and running and I doubt that I would have ever ended up offering my projects to the world.

Thank you for stopping by. We are so very happy that you found your way here!

Cheers!
